ANC, ENC, CVC, DSP, the difference between physical noise reduction
Passive noise reduction, also known as physical noise reduction, refers to the use of physical properties to isolate external noise from the ears. It is mainly achieved by designing the headband of the headphones to be tighter, optimizing the acoustics of the earmuff cavity, and placing sound-absorbing materials inside the earmuffs. Physical sound insulation of the headphones is achieved. Passive noise reduction is very effective in isolating high-frequency sounds (such as human voices), and can generally reduce noise by about 15-20dB. That is, thickened ear shells, sound-insulating and sound-absorbing cotton, and high-density leather earmuffs are used to isolate some noise. Ordinary headphones have the effect of physical noise reduction.
2. The working principle of ANC noise reduction (Active Noise Control) is that the microphone collects external environmental noise, and then the system transforms it into an inverted sound wave and adds it to the speaker end. The sound heard by the human ear is: environmental noise + inverted environmental noise. The two noises are superimposed to achieve sensory noise reduction, and the beneficiary is oneself.
3. ENC reducer (Environmental Noise Cancellation, environmental noise reduction technology), used in reverse calls, can effectively suppress 90% of the reverse environmental noise, thereby reducing the environmental noise by up to 35dB, allowing gamers to communicate more freely. Through the dual microphone array, the direction of the caller's speech is accurately calculated, while protecting the target voice in the main direction, various interference noises in the environment are removed.
4. DSP noise reduction (digital signal processing) audio digital processor, mainly for high and low frequency noise. The working principle is that the microphone collects external environmental noise, and then the system copies a reverse sound wave equal to the external environmental noise to cancel the noise, thereby achieving a better noise reduction effect. The principle of DSP noise reduction is similar to ANC noise reduction. However, the positive and negative noises of DSP noise reduction are directly neutralized and canceled within the system.
5. CVC noise reduction (Clear Voice Capture) is a call software noise reduction technology. It is mainly aimed at the echo generated during the call. Through the full-duplex microphone noise reduction software, it provides the echo and environmental noise elimination function of the call, and the patent is owned by Qualcomm in the United States.
